Description

This training is for anyone who has not yet carried out STCW Basic Training and is working in the boating industry, particularly those working on superyachts, fishing boats, charters, ferries, and container/transportation ships. Course Structure

PERSONAL SURVIVAL TECHNIQUES 

$513.00 + GST ($589.95 incl GST) - 2025 Pricing: $640.00 + GST ($736.00 incl GST)

This two-day course provides trainees with personal survival techniques, equipping them with the knowledge that will help them survive at sea in case of ship abandonment, as per the amended provisions of Regulation VI/I (Section A-VI/1-1) of the International convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW).

This course can also be completed as refresher.

FIRE PREVENTION AND FIRE FIGHTING

$761.00 + GST ($875.15 incl GST) - 2025 Pricing: $915.00 + GST ($1052.25.00 incl GST)

This two-day course provides trainees with the skills to:

  • assess fire risks
  • prevent on-board fires
  • extinguishing fires on a vessel as per the amended provisions of Regulation VI/I (Section A-VI/1-2) of the International convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW)

This course can also be completed as refresher.

ELEMENTARY FIRST AID

$217.39 + GST ($250.00 incl GST) - 2025 Pricing: $260.00 + GST ($299.00 incl GST)

This course and scenarios provides trainees with the skills and techniques required to apply basic first aid, and first aid in life threatening maritime situations.

PERSONAL SAFETY & SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

$147.80 + GST ($169.97 incl GST) - 2025 Pricing: $195.00 + GST ($224.25 incl GST)

This half-day course helps trainees learn how to limit pollution and other health and safety risks when working on board a vessel. This course builds trainees’ communication skills in relation to duties on ships and to relate well to other staff including following safe working practices as per the amended provisions of Regulation VI/I (Section A-VI/1-4) of the International convention on Standards of Training Certification and Watch-keeping for Seafarers (STCW).

SECURITY AWARENESS TRAINING

$147.80 + GST ($169.97 incl GST) - 2025 Pricing: $187.00 + GST ($215.05 incl GST)

This half-day course is intended to give personnel on board general security knowledge to enhance ship security. Trainees who successfully complete this course should be able to: 

  • contribute to the enhancement of maritime security
  • have heightened awareness
  • have the ability to recognise security threats
  • respond appropriately as per the requirements of STCW as amended, Section A-III/1

MEDICAL INFORMATION

The Standards of Training, Certification & Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW) is a short course that requires students to undertake physically challenging activities, including:

(a) Operating as a member of a team, and independently, at incidents of uncertain duration

(b) Being exposed to the elements (cold, heat, wind and water) and jumping into the sea

(c) Experiencing transition from hot to cold, and humid to dry atmospheres

(d) Making rapid transitions from rest to maximum exertion without warm up periods

(e) Working for short periods under sustained physical activity and concentration (up to 20 mins each)

(f) Wearing and using compressed air breathing apparatus used for firefighting

(g) Entering dark enclosed spaces and fighting small oil and carbonaceous fires

(h) Performing effective and sustained CPR on a manikin

(i) Other medical conditions which could affect sustained performance

Training 4 Safety recognises the potential for students enrolled on the STCW to suffer an adverse health experience e.g. shortness of breath or anxiety during the swimming training, or an increased heart rate or extreme exhaustion during the fire-fighting training, accordingly, all students enrolled in STCW are required to produce a medical certificate to confirm their physical fitness. The medical examination, and medical certificate, must be from a registered medical practitioner. The registered medical practitioner must consider the training environment, the activities described above, and the notes on this page, when undertaking their examination and completing their certificate.

If you are needing this training for a group but none of our scheduled training sessions work for you, please get in touch as we are always open to holding private courses, providing the minimum numbers have been met.
