Basic First Aid for Emergency Situations

This course is structured around various scenarios and incorporates interactive, theoretical and practical components to replicate real-life first aid incidents. Our objective is to equip you with the necessary confidence and skills to identify and address a range of basic injuries, as well as provide assistance during serious first aid emergencies. The skills you acquire are crucial for maintaining a person’s stability until emergency services arrive.

The curriculum is meticulously designed to encompass a wide array of emergency situations across different industries, workplaces, homes, recreational activities, and sports, including hazardous road-related incidents. While there are no specific prerequisites for enrolling in this course, we highly recommend having a basic understanding of first aid, which can be acquired through prior training, our online modules, or personal experience in relevant situations. Your engagement and commitment to learning are vital in ensuring the practical application of this essential skill in real-life scenarios.

Course Structure

The course includes a combination of theory and practical sessions, including the following features:

  • Primary Assessment and DRSABCD
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for adults, children, and infants
  • Utilising Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs)
  • Handling foreign body airway obstruction (choking) in adults, children, and infants
  • Managing severe bleeding
  • Care and treatment of wounds, shock, and bleeding
  • Dealing with fractures, sprains, strains, and dislocations
  • Initial treatment of: heart attack, angina, asthma, diabetes, seizures, stroke, and severe allergies
  • Discussion on chemicals, gases, and poisoning incidents
  • Discussion on treating thermal, chemical, and electrical burns
  • Initial treatment of head and spinal injuries

Delivery

NOTE: Our Public Courses will only run if the minimum number of attendees has been met. If you book onto one of our public training sessions and the minimum number has not been met, the training may get cancelled. We will endeavour to give you at least five working days notice of cancellation.
